Board approves updated DPW job descriptions and retires deputy chief's service weapon

DPW Superintendent Sally Brown presented updated job descriptions for DPW Superintendent, DPW Assistant Superintendent, DPW plant foreman and sewer maintenance/collection system foreman. Brown said staff updated outdated language and aligned similar positions; she credited a staff member, Donna, with detailed review. The board approved the job descriptions by voice vote.
Separately, the board approved retiring the service weapon of Deputy Police Chief Scott Summers as he prepares to retire from sworn duty and continue in a civilian deputy chief role. A speaker noted that "20 years is by statute" when describing eligibility for weapon retirement. The motion to retire the service weapon passed by voice vote.
The meeting record shows both items passed unanimously; no changes to pay grade or job duties were made on the record. Staff will implement job-description updates through Human Resources and proceed with the administrative steps to transfer the retired service weapon as allowed under city policy and applicable statute.
