“Mister Blankenship, staff member, said, “Riverview Park planning continues. We had a robust meeting last month, and we will get the conceptual plan in in order to take to council for, for consideration and and adoption.”
The committee’s discussion focused on permitting and next steps rather than new votes. Blankenship told members the Main Street boat-ramp dredging project is on a schedule that should secure required permits by Sept. 15; after permits are in hand the project can be put out to bid. He also said the contract for installing a dry line — described in the meeting as a fire-suppression system — at Twin Piers Dock will go to council on May 28. According to Blankenship, the dry line will be new to the South Dock; staff recently replaced a dry line at the Working Waterfront, but Twin Piers previously did not have one.
Swing And Bench Park is in the permitting stage for shoreline stabilization. Blankenship said staff submitted the project to the St. Johns River Water Management District for approval and are awaiting results.
Committee minutes and members’ remarks at the meeting indicate the Riverview conceptual plan had been voted to move forward to council at an earlier advisory-board meeting; no new formal vote on that plan was taken at the May 19 meeting. The updates presented were described as status reports and next-step timelines rather than final approvals.
Next steps reported to the committee include completing permit processes, putting dredging and construction work out to bid after permits are secured, and council consideration of the Twin Piers contract on May 28.
