Jim Roland, president and CEO of the Payson San Joaquin Chamber of Commerce, reported to the Santaquin City Council on the chamber’s quarterly activities, upcoming summer events including a hometown market starting June 30, and a $92,000 governor’s grant to support home‑based businesses.
Jim Roland, president and CEO of the Payson San Joaquin Chamber of Commerce, presented the chamber’s quarterly report during the public forum at Tuesday’s Santaquin City Council meeting and reviewed recent and upcoming community events and programs.
Roland told the council the chamber received a $92,000 grant from the governor’s office to support home‑based businesses with marketing and business‑development efforts. He said the chamber will use that funding to help small businesses grow “from garage to great.”
Roland outlined the chamber’s summer schedule: a Santaquin hometown market will begin June 30 and run seven Monday evenings through the summer; organizers plan to move the market to the southeast corner of the park for more shade, to include three to four food trucks each night, and to stage family‑oriented nights such as a “Pirates and Princesses” theme. He also announced a community pool party reserved for Aug. 9 and said the chamber distributed 1,000 “passport to summer” books to promote activities.
The chamber celebrated recent ribbon cuttings and business reopenings and recognized volunteer service. Roland presented the Chamber Volunteer of the Month award for May to Diana Hunt for long‑running youth choir work and community volunteerism.
Roland asked the council to continue working with the chamber on openings and ribbon cuttings for incoming businesses including Murdoch Ford and others. He also encouraged residents to support chamber members and local events.
