Living Well Kent to run downtown Kent Farmers Market starting June 14

Living Well Kent will manage the Kent Farmers Market this summer, running Saturdays from June 14 through Sept. 13, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in downtown Kent on Second Avenue, Executive Director Shamsa (Shamsa) Isaac told the City Council on May 20.
Isaac said Living Well Kent took over management from the Lions Club, which ran the market for many years, and thanked the club for 25 years of service. "We are grateful for our partnership with the city of Kent," Isaac said. She asked the public and council to help recruit more vendors and noted the market's opening will include a ribbon cutting with Mayor Dana Ralph.
Isaac provided operational details: the market will have entertainment appropriate for families, an area for food trucks, and plans to be more community-centered in its operations. She said Living Well Kent has created a dedicated website for the market, kentfarmersmarket.com, and provided contact via info@livingwellkent.com. Isaac said "so far, we have about 30'35 vendors listed with us," and asked for help recruiting additional vendors.
Council members acknowledged the Lions Club's long stewardship and welcomed Living Well Kent's plans. No formal council action was recorded on the market management during the meeting; the presentation was an informational agenda item.
