The Mineral Wells City Council approved an agreement directing the Mineral Wells Economic Development Corporation to contract for a new EDC website and a community workforce job board that will centralize available commercial property listings, demographic dashboards and local job postings.
Staff said the project pairs Black Dog — the firm doing the city's rebranding — to build a Parallax-style site, while the Insightful/Core4 package will provide a demographic dashboard, building-and-sites pages, virtual tours and a job-listing board. The EDC presenter said Year 1 costs for the selected configuration total $20,080, with recurring annual fees described in the meeting as "just over $12,300" in subsequent years.
The EDC representative described the job board as a free, locally focused resource allowing Mineral Wells businesses, the school district, hospital and the city to post openings specific to Mineral Wells, rather than relying on broader third-party sites that sometimes mislabel job locations. He said the site will include an "available properties" section where the city can list city-owned commercial properties and where local realtors and property owners may also post commercial listings.
Councilmembers asked about brand consistency and timing because Black Dog is leading the city's rebrand. Staff said the site can be updated after rebranding (fonts, colors, logos) with simple changes once the rebrand is finalized. Members also asked about differing cost figures in the packet; staff explained the larger numbers presented in one vendor package reflected a scenario in which Insightful would build the full site — a more expensive option — but council chose the hybrid approach to limit costs.
Council approved the EDC website agreement by voice vote, recorded as 7-0 in favor, and directed staff to manage the site and job-board content through the EDC office.
