The West Allis Common Council on May 20 approved a resolution to reallocate $250,926 in fiscal year 2019 CDBG‑CV funds to the Liberty Heights Pavilion project at Liberty Heights Park.
Planning staff explained the relocation of funds meets federal requirements for reallocations above $100,000 and that the funding will support ventilation upgrades, accessibility improvements and enhanced meeting space for community engagement in the Liberty Heights Park service area, which the city noted is eligible under federal low‑ and moderate‑income mapping. "The purpose of this hearing is to meet federal guidelines ... to take some older fiscal year 2019 COVID‑19 funding in the amount of $250,000 and distribute those funds to the Liberty Heights Pavilion project," staff said during the public hearing.
No council questions or public objections were recorded at the hearing. The resolution was included on the meeting’s consent agenda and approved with the consent items.
City staff said the project aims to provide better air circulation, improve accessibility and create neighborhood outreach and engagement space at Liberty Heights Park; implementation details and a timeline will be coordinated by the department administering CDBG projects.
