Several commissioners said they preferred natural‑to‑weather wood or a mid‑rail with stainless wire infill, and asked the applicant to avoid a shiny cable finish that would read as visually prominent.
The commission voted to approve the repairs as submitted with a condition that the stair retain or include a mid‑rail and be infilled with wire in the railing bays (exhibit A), and to require the cap/finish of the rail to be subdued. The vote carried unanimously.
