Chief Majewski said Folly St. Charles LLC had been created by Hei Lee, who recently became sole owner after taking over from his brother; Mr. Lee was previously manager and co-owner. The business will maintain its Class B1 license and no operational changes were proposed; staff noted the license had expired April 30 and alcohol sales had been paused until the new license was issued.
Alderman Ron raised a concern about three DUI convictions on the owner’s record, noting two occurred within a six-month span. Majewski responded that the most recent DUI was in 2013 and that staff had not found disqualifying issues that would prevent issuance of the license. A question was also asked about the form of the alcohol-safety certificate; staff clarified it was a ServSafe certificate as presented, rather than the BASSETT certificate some members said they typically see.
The committee approved the item by roll call.
