The Norwin School District Board of Education voted Monday to cancel its scheduled June 2 and June 9 meetings and hold a single combined meeting on June 23 to allow the public at least 30 days to review the preliminary budget before a final vote.
Board member Ray Kosak moved to approve the cancellation; the motion was seconded. The board approved the schedule change by voice vote.
District administrators told the board the revised schedule was intended to provide a 30-day period between passage of the preliminary budget and the public vote on the final budget so residents have time to review the materials. The board discussed plans to provide dial-in access for members and the public for the combined meeting.
The action was procedural and passed without recorded dissent. The change will remain in effect at least through the year unless altered at the reorganization meeting.
