The Ellensburg City Council confirmed two appointments to the city’s Utility Advisory Committee (UAC): Frederick Springsteen was appointed to a vacant position and Jeff Dusan was reappointed for another term.
Springsteen introduced himself to the council, outlined a background in finance, budgeting and community service, and said he wants to help the city plan for infrastructure and growth. Dusan, introduced himself as CWU’s sustainability director and said he has served on the UAC for two years; he spoke briefly about prioritizing affordable and reliable energy sources.
Council members moved and seconded a motion to confirm both appointments. One councilmember said they would abstain on Dusan’s reappointment because the seat was a CWU appointment and the councilmember works with Dusan; the remainder of the council voted in favor. The motion passed by voice vote with the recorded abstention.
Councilmembers used the moment to remind residents that many boards and commissions have vacancies and encouraged citizens to apply.
