At a special meeting of the Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees, the board administered oaths of office to three trustees and completed its annual reorganization of officers.
Board Secretary Gina Orr administered the oath to trustees Yvonne Adkins and Lindsay Harrison, who each repeated the oath, including the words “Do solemnly swear.” Judge Derek Choice, Smith County precinct justice of the peace, administered the oath to newly elected trustee Elena Lisaya, who likewise repeated the oath and signed the oath of office afterward.
The swearing-in was followed by the boardreorganization required after each election cycle. A board member nominated Yvonne Adkins for board president; the nomination was seconded and approved with no recorded opposition. Lindsay Harrison was nominated and elected vice president by voice vote. Gina Orr was nominated and approved again as board secretary. The board then adjourned.
The meeting record shows the formal steps the board took to install trustees and officers: presentation of certificates of election and statements of office, repeated oaths by the newly sworn trustees, signing of oath documents, nominations for officer positions, and voice votes to approve each officer. No substantive policy debate or committee business was conducted during the session.
