Joint village-district meeting advances study of $3.3 million community park with possible sports fields and cross-country loop

The joint board discussion included the possibility of a perimeter cross-country course that would traverse both village- and district-owned parcels and could also be used for winter activities such as cross-country skiing. Attendees emphasized uses beyond sports, including hiking and bird watching.
The McFarland representatives said the joint committee unanimously recommended advancing the project to further study; later that evening the village board also unanimously approved that the proposal be studied further. Board members thanked school coaches and community advocates who spoke at the meeting for their presentations.
No construction timeline was firm: the project was described as still awaiting design refinement and bids; the boards approved additional study rather than final commitment to construction or financing.
