Hinsdale HPC gets update on Memorial Building plaque and Sixth Street grant resubmission

At its May 19 meeting the Hinsdale Historic Preservation Commission learned that a temporary replica plaque for the Memorial Building has been installed in time for Memorial Day processions and that the permanent plaque has been printed and is awaiting final payment and installation.
Bethany, commission staff, said the temporary plaque is in place and the permanent plaque will be installed after the village board processes the payment at its next meeting. Commissioners were asked to advise staff if they want adjustments to the sign location before the permanent pole is installed.
On the Sixth Street improvement project, staff said the projects were not included in the federal budget package recently passed by Congress; they were not rejected, the manager’s office reported, but the grants will be resubmitted and the congressional office supporting the projects will re‑prioritize them. Staff emphasized that signatories on grant applications do not create a special service‑area obligation for residents and that the grants are intended to secure federal funds to support the project in whole or in part.
The commission received no additional updates on the sign code.
