The Machesney Park Public Improvement and Safety Committee approved Resolution 36 R 25 on May 19, 2025, authorizing a professional services agreement with McMahon Group to begin the village’s 2025 pavement maintenance program.
Staff said the program includes resurfacing Angelie Way in the Windridge subdivision; improvements to Meyer Ponds to ease mowing and maintenance; crack filling on Harlem Road, Alpine Road and the Willow Creek bike path; maintenance to the bridge deck over McDonald Creek on the Illinois 251 West Service Drive; and a late addition of a portion of Mitchell Road. Staff explained that favorable bids on the Illinois 251 median project left available RBI funds that must be obligated by June 2025, and the village decided to apply the remaining RBI balance to Mitchell Road. Any costs beyond the RBI balance would be covered with Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds. Staff said Mitchell Road will be run under a separate contract because it requires additional IDOT permitting.
Staff outlined a two-track schedule: assuming passage of the engineering agreement, award recommendations for most of the pavement program would be brought to the June 23 meeting and the Mitchell Road recommendation to the July 21 meeting, with all work expected near August or September 2025. The committee approved the resolution on a voice vote after a motion by Mr. Nelson and a second by Mr. James.
