Sergeant Danae Pope addressed the board after the vote, saying he had not originally planned to be a police officer but was ‘‘glad I made this choice to do it’’ and thanking the village for the opportunity to serve. Mayor Savarino and multiple trustees offered congratulations during reports following the vote.
