Council advances multiple street, culvert and right‑of‑way projects; public works equipment appropriation approved

Tiffin City Council on May 20 approved several ordinances advancing street, culvert and right‑of‑way work and authorized a capital equipment appropriation for public works.

On third reading the council passed ordinances to prepare plans and specifications and receive bids for multiple projects, including the North Sandusky Street project and the South Sandusky Culvert project. The council also approved ordinances authorizing the city administrator to accept easements for North Willow Court (including sewer easements) and to acquire easement rights where needed for the South Sandusky Culvert project.

Council also passed Ordinance 25-36 to amend the 2025 budget and appropriate funds into the public works department capital equipment fund for purchase of the chassis for a salt‑plow truck; Finance Director Kathy Kaufman explained the ordinance funds the chassis acquisition. Separate passage on third reading accepted dedication of Nelson Street in the city’s Second Ward.

Why it matters: these actions authorize design, bidding and contract steps for capital transportation and drainage projects and provide funding for equipment that public works uses to maintain roadways. Several ordinances passed with unanimous votes, enabling project design and future contracting phases.
