The Tippecanoe County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 2025‑09‑CM May 19 approving an amendment from the county drainage board that terminates the Drain Reconstruction Assistance Fund and directs remaining monies into the general drain improvement fund.
Zach (drainage board representative) summarized that the assistance program was created about nine years earlier to allow landowners to finance major agricultural reconstruction projects with a 5% charge through a county contract. Doug (county staff) told commissioners that the county created the separate Drain Reconstruction Assistance Fund to segregate those receipts and expenditures but that recent practice showed the extra fund added little value and reduced efficiency.
Under the approved amendment, future reconstruction financing will flow directly through the general drain improvement fund rather than the assistance fund. Commissioners approved the resolution by motion and voice vote.
