Selectmen approve routine permits, appointments and write-offs; allow church repairs and sign tax acknowledgment forms

The Board of Selectmen approved several administrative motions on Wednesday, including approvals for recurring community events, an appointment to the trails committee, tax-form sign-off for donated easements and the write-off of uncollectible ambulance invoices.

Under the board’s board-of-permits items, the town granted recurring permits for a weekly farmers market (May 23–Oct. 1), a weekly car-and-motorcycle cruise night operated by the Rusty Lantern (Tuesdays through Sept. 30) and National Night Out (fee waiver and permit earlier recorded). Selectmen said police and town staff saw no issues with past operations and would monitor for safety and traffic as needed.

The board authorized the chair to sign Form 8283 for non-cash charitable contributions related to four donated easements so donors can use the form for tax purposes. The selectmen also approved a motion to write off a list of uncollectible ambulance invoices totaling $2,126.27; the board noted debt-collection efforts had been pursued before write-off.

Selectmen appointed Nancy Hopkins to the town trails committee with an expiration date of March 14, 2026; the appointment was approved by voice vote. The board also approved a request from the Freewill Baptist Church to repair deteriorated threshold boards and paint portions of the town-hall entrance at the church’s expense; selectmen said the church has performed similar maintenance in the past and will proceed at its cost.

All items were approved by voice votes with no amendments recorded during the meeting.
