The Loudon Board of Selectmen voted to waive permit fees for a National Night Out event planned for 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2025, at the town recreation field.
An organizer described outreach to community partners, including the fire marshal’s office, state liquor enforcement, crisis center representatives and planned food vendors. “We’re trying to get these a, like a mobile pizza trailer,” the organizer said, noting a range of community resources and an uncertain turnout for a first-time local event.
Police Chief Dana Flanders and other department representatives confirmed the town’s public-safety presence and support; Chief Flanders later reminded residents in his department update that the event is planned for Aug. 5 and that police will participate. A selectman moved to waive all fees for the event; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
Selectmen and staff said the waiver was intended to encourage turnout and community engagement. The board did not set additional permit conditions at the meeting; staff will follow up on permit logistics and vendor coordination.
