Staff said the homeowners association asked the board to pursue an appraisal and that approval was needed for staff to obtain the appraisals. Staff described the parcel as “a very innocuous piece of ground” and stated the size is approximately 1.13 acres. Staff also outlined a multi-step process after appraisals are obtained: the purchasing agent will obtain two appraisals, staff will average them and prepare an offer, and further steps will follow toward closing the acquisition.
Board members characterized this staff authorization as a necessary step to obtain the appraisals and move the project forward; staff said additional steps, including taking an average of the appraisals and making an offer, would come later. The board did not record a purchase price or funding source during the discussion.
The board approved the resolution and moved on to the next agenda item.
