City says temporary signals up soon as Maine–Peru intersection work moves toward July 4 goal

City staff reported progress on the Maine and Peru intersection reconstruction and said temporary traffic signals will be installed as the project enters its final phases.
Noe of contractor Camelin told staff the crew is in the last steps of putting temporary signals in place; after that the contractor will remove existing mast arms, excavate old foundations and install the new signal hardware. The final work will include new sidewalks and roadway surfacing.
Staff acknowledged the temporary-signal installation has taken longer than originally anticipated but said they remain optimistic the intersection work will be completed by the July 4 weekend.
The report indicated project-related traffic impacts and asked residents to follow posted traffic detours. Staff did not provide new cost figures or a revised completion date beyond the stated July 4 weekend goal.
