Hokanson said she has been encouraging the county to adopt a land‑acknowledgement statement but that, when asked recently about progress, she had not been contacted by county staff. “I have been encouraging for a long time to do a land acknowledgement,” she said. “In this past week, two different people have asked me, ‘How is it going?’ And I said, ‘Zero.’ And no one has contacted me or called me.”
Her remarks were part of the meeting’s open public forum. Commissioners did not take formal action or issue a staff directive regarding a land acknowledgement during the meeting, and no county response is recorded in the hearing transcript.
