Administrators said the agreement allows a district physics teacher who is completing required graduate hours to be approved by Manchester University as a dual‑credit instructor while the teacher finishes the additional 18 graduate hours. The district noted Manchester will not charge students tuition or an enrollment fee for the dual‑credit physics course offered through this arrangement. “Manchester does not charge our students any tuition. There's also not an enrollment fee, so we'll be able to offer dual credit physics with our own in house instructor with dual credit offered from Manchester University at no cost, to anyone,” a presenter said.
Board materials and presenters clarified how credits transfer: the Indiana College Core (30 credits) transfers automatically among public state universities in Indiana by statute, while additional courses count as credit but how those credits apply toward a major varies by institution and major. The presenter explained that for some majors, like engineering, a student may still take a different course at the transfer institution to meet specific major requirements, while the dual‑credit course can still serve as useful preparation.
The board approved the MOU by roll call, 7–0. The presenter said the district already offers more than 30 dual‑credit courses and aims to expand on‑campus and online partnerships to allow students to earn credits and associate degrees while enrolled at Angola High School.
