The MSD Steuben County Board of School Trustees approved multiple personnel items and honored district staff at its May 20 meeting in the McCutcheon Administration Center Boardroom.
Board members unanimously approved the employment of two individuals who required separate votes: a custodian identified in the meeting materials as Bridal Fry and a speech‑therapist assistant, Alice Williams. The board then approved a longer personnel consent list covering summer school and coaching assignments. “So I just need a vote for his employment, please,” the administrator presenting the personnel packet said before the separate votes; after motions and seconds the clerk called the roll and the motion carried 7–0.
The board also presented district recognition awards. Administrators announced winners of a classified‑employee recognition program that solicited nominations from building staffs; winners were introduced from multiple schools and district departments, including Michelle Police (library assistant and Chromebook repair lead) and others at Angola Middle School, Pleasant Lake, Ryan Park and Carlin Park. “With over 20 years of dedicated service to our district … her support has been instrumental,” a presenter said of Police.
The board also recognized Mallory Hartman as the 2025 MSD District Teacher of the Year. A presenter described Hartman’s classroom work and leadership in professional development and said the district will support her as she competes at the state level.
No dissent or amendments to the personnel items were recorded in the meeting minutes; all personnel votes were recorded as 7–0.
Looking ahead, the superintendent noted retirements in the personnel recommendations and congratulated the retirees. The board adjourned after closing comments thanking employees and wishing the community a safe summer.
