County awards chip-seal materials contracts; chip work scheduled in June

Manus requested award of the fractured 3/8" chips to Tri County Materials as the lowest bidder; the board approved a motion to purchase fractured chips for the 2025 chip-seal project from Tri County Materials in the amount discussed in the bid (motion language referenced a $70,000 total). Board members asked for confirmation that quoted prices included delivery and tax; Manus said the bid covered delivered cost to the county locations and that he had spoken with the contractor about the totals.
Manus also recommended awarding the oil-emulsion contract to Western Emulsions (low bidder among several, including Hawker and Evans Asphalt). The board approved the emulsions award in the amount of $152,858.84.
Manus said work is planned to begin June 9 and run June 9'12, resume on June 16 and leave the 17th open for contingencies, with crews working loops south of the three-way intersection and progressing toward Cosper Loop and toward Duncan and Carlisle. He said crews will cover loops, the fairway area and housing developments en route. "We plan on going from June 9 to the twelfth...We'll continue on June 16, hopefully, to finish up on the sixteenth," Manus said.
Ending: Manus said spot repairs and micro-surface applications will follow to smooth driving surfaces; supervisors thanked staff and approved the awards.
