Liquor commission approves Lenny's Wheeling Liquors application with four conditions

The Village of Wheeling Liquor Commission on May 19 approved a request from Lenny's Wheeling Liquors LLC to operate a package liquor store at 1920 East Hintz Road, contingent on four conditions the commission required.
The approval was adopted after staff described the proposed store as a separate, fully segregated retail space tied to the Gas and Wash development. "They are fully segregated, from any of the other businesses inside of the, gas and wash, compound as it were," Mr. Svan Delis said when describing the site layout and access.
The commission tied approval to four conditions: passage of an ordinance by the board of trustees creating a new Class D liquor license, payment of all associated fees, satisfactory background check results, and submission of applicable BASIT certificates. Those conditions were stated by village staff during the agenda presentation and were incorporated into the motion the commission voted on.
Commissioners voted to approve the application by roll call: Commissioner Vito, Commissioner Lang, Commissioner Krueger, Commissioner Raffato, Commissioner Vogel and Chairperson Horker answered "yes." Commissioner Papantos was absent with prior notice.
The vote clears the Liquor Commission's step in the licensing process; the approval is conditional on the board of trustees passing the separate ordinance to create the new license classification and the applicant meeting the listed requirements. The commission did not set an effective date; staff said completion of the listed items is required before the license can be issued.
