Pingree Grove awards $1.47 million contract for 2025 street resurfacing program

The Pingree Grove Village Board on May 19 awarded the 2025 motor-fuel-tax (MFT) street resurfacing contract to Schroeder Asphalt Services Inc. and approved Fairgram Engineering for construction engineering services, for a combined not-to-exceed project cost of about $1.59 million.

Staff said Schroeder — the low bidder and the contractor used last year — submitted a bid of $1,466,547.49 for resurfacing work across four neighborhoods and several targeted projects, including pavement rejuvenator treatments, parking-lot repaving in special service areas and a sidewalk extension in Neighborhood 33. Andy described the rejuvenator as an application that “extends the interval, 5 to 7 years before we have to resurface it again” when applied one year after resurfacing.

The board also approved a professional services agreement with Fairgram Engineering Inc. for construction engineering at $122,250. Staff said funding will come from a mix of the village’s local fuel-tax allocation and local funds; repaving of certain parking lots will be charged to the corresponding SSAs. The board discussed a pending CMAP grant application to update the pavement‑management inventory; staff said the grant would inform planning for next year’s program but is not required for this year’s work.

Trustees discussed scheduling around community events and Little League use of park parking lots; staff said a preconstruction meeting and contractor schedule will be shared so organizations can coordinate. The motion to award construction and engineering services passed on a roll call vote.
