The Village of Morton Board of Trustees voted May 19 to accept a $5,532,800 bid from Enzo Briston Sons Inc. for phase‑one renovation of the street department office and approved a three‑year agreement to transition pavement management to an iWork‑based asset and data tracking service.
The renovation covers interior office renovations at 450 Detroit Street (phase one), including offices for construction‑services staff, a cubicle area for the street superintendent and foreman, a renovated lobby, break room, locker rooms, restrooms, data storage and related improvements. The contract includes a $40,000 contingency for asbestos abatement and a $65,000 furniture allowance. Phase two — moving the mechanics — was described as budgeted separately. The board approved the contract by roll call; trustees voted yes on the motion to award the bid.
Separately, the board approved a resolution to adopt an iWork‑linked pavement and sign management service to replace the department’s current Paver software. Public works staff told the board the new service will lower the manual rating hours the department estimates at roughly 500 man‑hours per year, and the proposal was described as $22,000 every three years (a $66,000 total commitment over nine years if the same rate is continued). The vendor will perform field ratings and capture high‑frequency imagery for sign inventories, then ingest results into the village’s work management platform for use by staff and trustees.
Officials said the renovation bid came in under the total project budget and that the pavement service will not add an annual subscription cost beyond the locked $22,000 every three years for existing iWork customers. The public works director noted four bids were received for the renovation and that the low‑to‑high bid spread was tight. The board’s approval included authorization to proceed with the contract award and the software agreement.
