The Mobile City Council approved a $60,000 purchase order to Cathead Media for media research, editing services and curation of intellectual property for a Jimmy Buffett–themed exhibit at the National Maritime Museum.
Councilmember Reynolds asked for clarification about the scope, saying, "How do we expect this what's the usefulness of this, and how how do we expect this to unfold?" Matt, a staff member, replied: "So this is, an individual who was the videographer and sound guy for Jimmy Buffett for a very long time in excess of 25 years. And he has kind of a library of all the in lock intellectual property that would be needed for the usage of the Jimmy Buffett experience at the National Maritime Museum."
Matt said Cathead Media will "assemble and curate the materials that we'll be using in the exhibit" and that the vendor "is the person who has ownership and access to that material and really nobody else has it." He described the contract as providing the video and sound elements for the exhibit, while other contracts would handle exhibit architecture, signage and displays.
The item appeared in the consent agenda as a purchase order to Cathead Media for "buffet exhibit, media research and editing services, maritime museum, 60000." The transcript shows staff corrected the spelling from "buffet" to "Buffett" during the discussion. The purchase order number was listed on the agenda (purchase order item in the 08700 series).
