Breckenridge awarded Film Friendly Texas certification, state official says community now positioned to host productions

Adrianna Sowers, Panhandle regional representative for the office, said the certification joins Breckenridge to a network of more than 175 communities across the state that have signaled they are prepared to accommodate on‑location filming. Sowers said the certification helps market local locations and businesses to media productions and can lead to spending on catering, lodging, transportation, lodging and construction supplies.
Sowers highlighted some locations within the city that might be attractive for productions, including the city park, Lake Daniel, the YMCA and local ranch properties. She thanked city staff, especially Cynthia Northrop (cited in her remarks), and the mayor and council for pursuing the certification. No formal council action was required; the presentation recognized the city’s completion of the Film Friendly Texas application and designation.
Council members accepted the recognition and thanked staff and partners for the work that led to the certification.
