During the meeting the planning department’s staff updated the Planning Board on administrative items ahead of the June 2 meeting, including reappointments and the board’s annual organization following elections.
Staff said Colleen prepared a summary of positions requiring reappointment before June 30 and that the board will address organization at the next meeting. Planning staff also noted receipt of a letter from the Open Space Preservation Commission chair with guidance on native plants and resources; staff provided that information to the board and suggested further discussion at a later date.
In remote public comment, Kelly Conklin (a resident at 17 Sadie Hut) asked whether the planning board coordinates with the select board and school committees on long-term strategies for school building needs and fiscal sustainability, referencing a separate school-building proposal. Chair Mimi replied that school-building decisions fall under the select board, school committee and school building committee, while the planning board’s role includes zoning review and occasional zoning changes intended to encourage commercial growth.
Staff also reminded members that minutes were not yet ready for approval and that additional administrative items (endorsed plan sets and minutes) would be handled before the next meeting.
