Ally, speaking for the Newark Partnership, told the City Council the group is moving forward on a set of community projects and that she will serve as interim executive director after Mark Earhart left for the Delaware Community Foundation.
“The Library Avenue mural project is chugging along slowly,” Ally said, noting the group has secured abutment measurements and expects to schedule the next meeting in early June. She said Friends of School Hill’s veterans banner project is preparing designs for unveiling at a Juneteenth celebration the Partnership is co‑hosting on June 21.
Ally reported the Partnership’s April 29 Christina School Board candidate forum drew about 70 in‑person participants and 20 livestream viewers, and that the League of Women Voters repost of the video had 345 views. She said the forum demonstrated public interest in school board races and civic engagement.
The Partnership also helped on Memorial Day events and is running an upcoming “Knowing Newark” event with the Newark Co‑op and farmers market on May 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to highlight local nonprofits. Ally said the Partnership is assisting Friends of School Hill with the Juneteenth celebration and that she will serve as interim executive director while the Partnership’s board determines a permanent replacement.
Council members thanked the Partnership for outreach partnerships, asked for advance notice of vendor and nonprofit lineups for upcoming events, and volunteered to promote the programs. No formal council action was taken on Partnership items at the meeting.
