The Kings Park Central School District Board of Education approved a resolution on May 13 to officially name the William C. Rogers Middle School Library Media Center the Ralph J. Cardesano Media Center in recognition of Dr. Cardesano's nearly 30 years of service to the district.
The naming resolution, brought forward by William C. Rogers Middle School staff and supported by the superintendent's office, notes Dr. Cardesano's career as an assistant principal, principal and central-office administrator and his pending retirement effective July 31, 2025. "Doctor Cardesano dedicated his career to public education focused on helping students meet their academic, emotional, and social needs," the resolution states.
Board action: a motion to approve the naming resolution was made and the board approved it by voice vote during the May 13 meeting. The resolution cites district policy for honorary facility recognition and memorializes the media center's new name in district records.
Why it matters: the naming is an internal honorary recognition that memorializes a longtime administrator's contributions to curriculum and student services. District leaders said the action is meant to recognize Dr. Cardesano's leadership and to give the community a tangible sign of appreciation.
Implementation: the district will update signage and internal references to reflect the new name and include the change in official facilities records.
