Bellefonte Borough Council voted May 20 to amend Ordinance No. 05192025-01, the borough’s related‑services ordinance, to add flexibility in the calendar end date for borough brush pickup and to revise wording for clarity.
Joanne, speaking for the ordinance committee, said the committee reviewed the related‑services provision connected to brush and grass clippings and recommended changing the pickup end date to allow for weather variability and to add the phrase “unless extended by council,” which would preserve the borough’s ability to continue service into November if conditions warrant. She told council that for recent years the last day for brush pickup had been Veterans Day week.
A motion to approve the amendment was made and seconded by Council member Deb Clayton; a roll‑call vote recorded unanimous approval from council members present.
The amendment is intended to give staff and contractors scheduling flexibility and avoid an automatic cutoff that could leave residents without pickup after late fall storms, the ordinance committee said. No additional funding or implementation timeline was specified at the meeting.
