Hoover council adopts ordinances moving regular meetings to second and fourth Mondays; planning schedule adjusted

The Hoover City Council voted unanimously to adopt ordinances that change the regular meeting schedule for the council and related boards.
Ordinance 25-2675 amends the Hoover Municipal Code to move regularly scheduled council meetings to the second and fourth Monday of each month; the ordinance also updates a code section to reflect that schedule. The council suspended the rules for immediate consideration and then adopted the ordinance by a 6-0 roll-call vote. The ordinance is effective June 1.
Separately, Ordinance 25-2676 adjusts the Planning and Zoning Commission and related work-session times and scheduling. During the discussion a member of the public asked whether the 30-minute work-session slot was intended for planning and zoning; city staff clarified the work session will start at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting at 6 p.m. Councilors later moved to amend the ordinance to set the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting to the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m.; that amendment also passed 6-0 and the revised ordinance was adopted.
Council members thanked staff and closed the meeting; no special implementation steps beyond the effective date were recorded at the meeting.
The change will take effect with the June meeting cycle and councilors noted the published agenda will reflect the corrected start times.
