Joe (staff) explained the system’s purpose: captured vehicle exhaust from fire apparatus and trucks and treat particulates and backwash that otherwise enter the station atmosphere when engines rev. Staff described the equipment as self-contained, automated and having a self-testing function so the town can confirm system operation.
Board members discussed the change from the originally budgeted $80,000 to the current quote just under $86,000 and noted savings elsewhere in the capital plan that offset the increase. The motion to lock the purchase at the approved amount passed; the motion was made by Sam and seconded by Ethan.
