Board members on May 19 asked the superintendent to prepare options to revise the district's salary-step schedules for administrators, bookkeepers and maintenance staff, citing inequities in current step caps.
A board member noted bookkeepers “top out” under the current matrix and asked how the district could increase pay beyond state allocations. The superintendent said administrators currently have no step raises in some positions and that teachers’ step progression extends to 35 years. “We know we're gonna have to address our administrators too. They have no stair premises,” a staff member said, describing the need to review steps comprehensively.
The superintendent offered to prepare proposals over the summer and present options at a work session, with implementation timing discussed around Oct. 1 to avoid mid-year changes to schedules. Board members cautioned that increasing step caps would raise the district’s out-year obligations and asked the superintendent and finance staff to examine long-term affordability before any final action.
