State auditors give Chilton County schools clean audit for 2023-24

Matthew Robinson of the Alabama State Department of Examiners of Public Accounts told the Chilton County Board of Education on May 19 that auditors issued unmodified opinions on the district's financial statements and on its major federal programs for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2024.
Robinson said the audit covered the period Oct. 1, 2023, through Sept. 30, 2024, was performed under generally accepted auditing standards and government auditing standards, and included testing of federal assistance in accordance with Title 2 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Part 200, commonly called the Uniform Guidance. “We issued an unmodified opinion on the board's financial statements as of and for the fiscal year ended 09/30/2024,” Robinson said. “We reported no audit findings in the report this year.”
Board members moved from the audit presentation directly to routine business, including approval of the monthly financial report and budget amendments. The audit report, Robinson said, and supporting information are available on the examiners' office website.
The audit team said Isabella High School and Jemison Middle School were selected for comprehensive testing; other schools were subject to limited testing. Robinson also thanked board and central office staff for their cooperation during the audit process.
