Roseville — The City Council authorized city staff on May 19 to abate remaining code violations at 2941 Victoria Street North, directing removal of an unlicensed, inoperable vehicle and outdoor stored materials after unsuccessful efforts to obtain full compliance.
Code Enforcement Officer Dave England told council the property originally had an unsafe structure that was removed after staff notification; however, unresolved items remain including the unlicensed vehicle, an unimproved surface and numerous items stored outdoors. England said the owner had been semi‑communicative since September and that the city saw some progress after formal council notification but not full compliance.
No representative of the property appeared at the meeting. Councilmember Strahan moved to authorize the abatement, including towing the vehicle and disposing of stored materials; Councilmember Bauer seconded and the council approved the motion unanimously. England explained materials stored outside are treated as junk for abatement and are disposed of rather than stored; the city will invoice the property owner for abatement costs and, if unpaid, may assess the charges to property taxes as part of the standard collection process.
Councilmembers said staff had allowed substantial time for voluntary compliance and that abatement is the next appropriate step. Staff will proceed with abatement actions and follow the city’s billing and assessment procedures.
