The Board of Education of Central Community Unit School District 301 administered the oath of office to newly appointed board member Chad Hurst, who took the oath and accepted his seat on the board.
Hurst recited the board oath, pledging to "faithfully discharge the duties of the office of member of the board of education of Central Community Unit School District 301, in accordance with the constitution of the United States, the constitution of the state of Illinois, and the laws of the state of Illinois to the best of my ability." He also pledged to respect taxpayer interests, protect district assets, encourage respectful expression of opinion, and to recognize that individual board members have no legal authority outside of the board's majority decisions.
Board members and meeting attendees welcomed Hurst after the oath. The swearing-in was followed by routine agenda business and public comment.
