On May 19, 2025 the Cortland City Council approved Resolution R-26-25 authorizing the mayor to accept state capital-improvement pass-through funds for the Mosquito Creek Lake Park Improvement Project. The project covers construction of a restroom and related parking-lot improvements at the park.
The mayor told council the funds are a state capital-improvement pass-through and that “we're not spending any money” from the city’s coffers for the grant itself; the city must sign documents and the law director must complete required paperwork before funds are disbursed. The mayor said the effort began in 2022 and that the city coordinated with other local entities to move the project forward.
Council moved the resolution and, after a roll call recorded in the transcript excerpt, the motion carried. The administration said the next step is to sign the grant documents so design and construction can proceed.
