Councilmember withdraws resolution to amend stormwater manual, says ordinance will follow

Councilmember Truffle withdrew a resolution that would have asked the Metropolitan Government and the Department of Water and Sewer Services to revise the Stormwater Management Manual to update the infill tree credit to cover multifamily residential infill.
The withdrawal came during the Metropolitan Council committee meeting when Councilmember Truffle said, "I'm gonna withdraw this with a brief explanation." Truffle told the committee the measure began after the city's recent major flood and that sponsors had worked with stormwater staff for about three years. "We need to improve the language," Truffle said, adding, "I think it is best to go back and really, create, an ordinance." Truffle said they have already begun talking with Stormwater staff about a permanent ordinance that would provide "a stronger direction."
Councilmember Benedict acknowledged the sponsor's intent to withdraw and offered to formally withdraw the item if desired; Truffle confirmed the withdrawal. No vote was needed to remove the resolution from consideration.
The discussion did not produce a draft ordinance or a firm timeline; Truffle said staff conversations have begun. Committee members did not take further action at the meeting, and no changes to the Stormwater Management Manual were adopted at that session.
