Board discussion noted the DDA’s landscaping line currently had very limited funds (speakers cited figures of about $97.80 to $110 remaining). Members discussed transferring funds into the landscaping line for this fiscal year and acknowledged the DDA’s budget for next fiscal year includes maintenance. The board agreed to consult the controller about where to transfer funds and to finalize any transfer at the next meeting.
Members also discussed coordination with the city Department of Public Works and potential state construction on the corridor. DPW staff (referred to in the meeting as Mr. Abbey/Abby) had previously indicated construction this year or next could make mowing unsafe or infeasible in some areas because some ramps and right-of-way are maintained by MDOT. The DDA agreed the contractor should not bill for scheduled mows it cannot reasonably perform because of construction or access restrictions.
