Smyrna — The Smyrna Mayor and Council on Monday approved abandonment of the right-of-way for Maple Drive and Park Drive to facilitate redevelopment of the former Igoe church site at 1101 Windy Hill Road.
Kristen (staff) explained the request arose because survey and engineering work during site redevelopment revealed discrepancies that require formal right-of-way abandonment to proceed. The city recommended approval as part of the already approved redevelopment plan.
Councilmember Lindley moved approval and Councilmember Welch seconded; the motion passed 6-0. The approval authorizes the mayor to sign and execute related documents associated with the right-of-way abandonment.
Staff said the abandonment is in conjunction with the redevelopment already approved for the site and is limited to the property and rights needed for the project. The council did not record any public comment on the item during the meeting.
