The Kirksville City Council approved a contract for the city’s annual cured‑in‑place sewer lining program and authorized change orders for additional pipelining work not to exceed $300,000.
City Engineer Adam Dorril described the program as part of the city's routine preventive maintenance: crews insert a resin‑soaked tube into older sewer mains, inflate it and cure it to extend pipe life. "We're drastically extending the life of our older sewer mains by doing this," Dorril said.
Bids for the project ranged from approximately $251,742 to about $262,000; the contractor that performed the work last year was identified as the lowest responsible bidder. Council approved up to the $300,000 budgeted for the project to allow additional quantities or unforeseen but necessary pipelining work.
A council member praised the program as cost‑effective infrastructure maintenance that stretches limited funds. The resolution passed on a voice vote.
Staff will proceed with contract execution and may issue change orders under the $300,000 cap as needed.
