Speedway commission approves early parking access for USAC Racing and new equipment for community TV

The Speedway Redevelopment Commission approved two event- and operations-related items Tuesday: early access to a commission parking lot for USAC Racing’s event and an equipment purchase for Speedway Community Television.
Economic Director Kyle Markley said USAC Racing requested earlier morning access to the SRC parking lot at 4910 West Sixteenth Street. The additional early-access fee is $500 for 2025; Markley said that increases the event’s total fee from $7,725 to $8,225. The commission voted 4-0 to permit the early access.
The commission also approved a purchase for Speedway Community Television to improve audiovisual capability, described in the meeting as equipment that will let the press link in and improve audio-visual quality for broadcasts. Brian Pierce and the SCTV team were cited as the primary users of the equipment. The purchase was approved by a 4-0 vote.
Separately, in the monthly claims and expenses the commission noted recurring charges to Summit Control for gate-arm monitoring; staff said Summit Control had been undercharging for one gate arm and that billing will double for that arm beginning in June.
