Graham County's Board of Supervisors on May 19 approved an amendment to an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) that reduces funding for a transmitted infection investigation program from $25,583 to $23,615.
Colin Hossett of the health department presented the amended IGA and said the amendment decreases funding. A board member noted it would be preferable for the reduction in revenue to match any reduction in infections; the board treated the amendment as a formality and acknowledged the reduction is modest, roughly 10 percent.
The motion to approve the IGA amendment passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Board members also used the occasion to thank health department staff for their emergency response work during recent fires, including setting up emergency cooling stations and coordinating with the sheriff's office and highway department.
