Dickson County approves planning director, 9-1-1 reappointments and economic development housing board elections

Dickson County commissioners approved several personnel appointments and board elections during the meeting.

Commissioners reappointed Timothy Spann and Shane Steely to the county 9-1-1 board. “Motion by Commissioner Williams, second by Commissioner Gray,” the chair said when calling the vote; the reappointments were approved by voice vote.

The commission introduced and confirmed Curtis Hayes as the county’s planning and zoning director. The chair noted Hayes had been presented to the commission previously and opened the floor for questions before a motion to confirm. Commissioners approved the selection by voice vote after a motion by Commissioner Spassner and a second by Commissioner Buckner.

The county also held an election (not a resolution) for the Economic Housing Development Corporation board, selecting seven members to staggered terms as required by law. The commission placed Jeff Martin and Laura Travis in six-year terms; Scott England and Alan Reagan were elected to four-year terms; and Robin Lund, Mike Easley and Beth Garrett were elected to two-year initial terms, after which they may run for regular six-year terms. The chair explained the staggered initial terms are required so the six-year terms begin on varying schedules.
