Tom, a district administrator, told the Facilities and Finance Committee on May 12 that two planned educational tours (overnight athletic trips) had been administratively reviewed and would come to the full board for approval.
Tom said the Libertyville High School girls basketball team plans a team camp at Purdue University this summer and the Vernon Hills girls basketball team plans a team camp at the University of Wisconsin. He characterized "educational tours" as trips over 200 miles or requiring an overnight stay and said administrators had reviewed forms, insurance and required coach submissions.
"So we want you as a board to just be aware of these. You have the ability to review and approve ed tours," Tom said. He added that the board typically discusses such tours in committee and then approves them at the full board meeting.
No objections or further questions were raised in the committee. The administration said the item will appear on the board agenda for approval.
