The Eastpointe City Zoning Board of Appeals voted to table the election of officers until the board has a full complement of members, saying elections are normally held with a full seven‑member board.
Chair Wilson moved to table the item and a second was recorded. During the vote, Chair Wilson, Member Troutman, Member Barconi, Member Roscoe and Member Williams voted in favor and the motion carried. The board recorded that four members constitute a quorum and that a majority of those present and voting is sufficient to decide a motion under the Eastpointe ordinance.
Members said the board prefers to elect officers when all vacancies are filled so new leadership reflects the full board; the motion to table will keep the item on a future agenda once vacancies are filled. No officer elections occurred and no officers were appointed at this meeting.
Staff noted the board’s practice that officer elections are typically conducted when the seven seats are filled. The clerk will place the item on a future agenda after staff notifies the board that the necessary appointments have been completed.
